Our Directors
This is Alan whose love of trains goes back to his trainspotting days at Birmingham, New Street in the 50s. He also trainspotted at Hamstead (Great Barr) and, during summer holidays, while staying at his grandparents, at Woking.
Alan is the Director of Finance, The Operations Director, the Engineering Director (responsible for Loco Maintenance, Carriage & Wagon Construction and the Permanent Way) and the Communications Director (i.e. he did this web site).
Apart from his work on the SWR he is also a signalman at the 12" to the foot scale Midland Railway - Butterley. Alan also designed and produced the web site for Butterley. Click here to have a look at this web site - but make sure you come back to the SWR!
Here is Jackie, the only other director, who acts as the Planning Director (she has the ideas - not always practical - but always very welcome),
the Catering Director (she provides cups of tea), the Personnel Director (she has a large say in the colours of the clothes that the various people wear) and the Purchasing Director (she decides what we buy at Stoneleigh). Incidentally, there is still enough work on the kits, etc. we bought this year to see us through to next year).
Apart from her duties on the SWR Jackie looks after the Directors' living accommodation in Belper, Derbyshire. This is often (but not often enough) invaded by our four children and eight grandchildren.
The best times on the SWR are when, on a warm summer evening, we sit on our decking with a bottle of wine and run the Raven with a rake of coaches or wagons for hours on end.
